Hamburg/ROSAT X-ray bright AGN sample (HRX)

Based on the identification project of RASS sources, we selected AGN candidates with X-ray count rates>0.075 cts/s in the hard spectral energy band (0.5-2.0 keV) in three areas of the northern sky (cf. Figure). Follow-up spectroscopy of new AGN was obtained with the 2.2m-telescope of the Calar Alto Observatory.
The data is used to study the properties of RASS selected AGN. Spectroscopy is currently complete for the dark shaded region. This region contains 236 HRX sources, from which 82 are emission-line AGN and 27 are
BL Lacs. The BL Lacs are studied separately (cf. Evolution of X-ray selected BL Lac objects).
