We selected all RASS-BSC X-ray sources (N=358) identified as galaxies
or Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) with B<=16.5 mag in the Hamburg/RASS Catalogue of Optical
Identifications (HRC) of Zickgraf
et al. 2003. A cross-correlation with the NASA Extragalactic Database
was made to extract common names, classifications, and redshifts. For
35 objects own spectroscopy was obtained. Two objects currently remain
without spectroscopic information.
The remaining N=356 AGN candidates are distributed among 192 confirmed AGN
(z<0.2, B≤16.5), 91 quasars, 18 BL Lac objects, 45 galaxies, and 10 other sources.
The galaxies are composed of absorption line galaxies and those emission line galaxies,
for which no broad velocity component has been detected so far. The "other sources"
contain 3 fainter (B>16.5) AGN, several stars and unidentified sources.
Except for the few stars and the unidentified sources the RASS-BSC X-ray sources were
correctly identified as galaxies or AGN candidates
Finding charts are presented below:
